What is a vCard QR code?

A vCard QR code is a standard QR code that contains contact information in the universal vCard format (the same format used by every phone's built-in contacts app). When someone scans it with their phone camera, their device recognizes it as a contact card and offers to save all the details — name, phone numbers, emails, addresses, websites — directly into their contacts app with one tap.

vCard QR codes work on iPhone, Android, and most modern smartphones without any additional apps. This site generates vCard 3.0 codes, the most widely supported version.

How do people scan my QR contact card?

On iPhone, open the Camera app and point it at the QR code. A notification will appear at the top of the screen asking to add the contact — tap it and confirm. The contact is saved.

On Android, open the Camera app (or Google Lens on older devices) and point it at the QR code. A contact popup appears — tap it to save.

No special scanning app is needed on any modern phone. Older phones may need a free QR scanner app from their app store.

Is qrmycontactcard.com really free?

Yes, completely and permanently free. There is no paywall, no premium tier, no signup, no account required, no credit card asked for, and no hidden charges. You can generate as many QR contact cards as you want, customize them any way you like, and download them in any format without paying anything.

Do you store any of my contact information?

No. Everything happens directly in your web browser. Your name, phone, email, address, and any images you upload never leave your device. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is logged, nothing is saved. Once you close the tab, your data is gone.

The only thing recorded is an anonymous visitor count (via GoatCounter) so we know whether the tool is being used. No cookies, no tracking, no personal data.

Can I add my logo or a photo to the center of the QR code?

Yes. In the Style section of the form, you can add either an emoji or a custom image (PNG, JPG, SVG, or WebP, up to 2 MB) to the center of your QR code. When a logo is added, the QR automatically bumps to high error correction so it still scans reliably even with a portion of the code covered.

For best results, use a square image with high contrast. Very low-contrast logos or logos that extend past the safe center area may make the code harder to scan.

Can I customize the colors of my QR code?

Yes. You can pick any color for the QR dots and any color for the background, either by choosing from five curated presets (Navy & Ivory, Classic, Forest, Rose, Midnight) or using the full color pickers. A contrast warning appears automatically if your chosen colors are too similar to scan reliably.

PNG, SVG, or PDF — which format should I download?

PNG is best for most digital uses — email signatures, social media, websites, phone screens. High resolution, universally supported.

SVG is a scalable vector file — ideal if you plan to print your QR code large (posters, signage, banners) or resize it without losing sharpness.

PDF Card produces a ready-to-print 4×6 inch card with your QR code, name, title, and contact details laid out professionally. Great for printing at home or at a print shop.
